Why does HIV status matter?
Knowing your HIV status is the best way to keep you and your partner(s) healthy.
If you test positive for HIV, early detection means you can get into treatment and get on with your life. Starting treatment early leads to a better quality of life and a longer lifespan. Plus, when you’re on HIV treatment, your status can become “undetectable,” which means you can no longer transmit HIV to your partner(s).
That's why regular HIV testing is so important. Often, symptoms of HIV don’t show up until much later, so you can be positive and not know it. By getting tested regularly, you're not just looking out for yourself, but you're also contributing to the health and safety of our community. So, don’t wait. Get a free HIV test today.

How Can I Prevent HIV?
HIV prevention is an essential part of our mission at AIDS Healthcare Foundation. One of the best ways to prevent the spread of HIV is to get tested regularly and use condoms. AHF offers free condoms to all of our clients. Our Love and Icon brand condoms are high-quality, free, and just as effective as leading name-brand condoms.
Another form of HIV prevention is PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) — a daily pill that helps prevent HIV. PrEP was created for those who may be at risk of contracting HIV from sex or injection drug use. PrEP is most effective when used with condoms. You can ask your medical provider if PrEP is right for you.
